Target Audience and Practice Levels
This course is acceptable for intermediate and advanced level staff who want to increase their knowledge and skills and deliver The Lies That Bind® Program (LTB) methodology. The LTB program offers four Scopes of Practice for master-level clinicians, bachelor-level service providers, certified alcohol and drug counselor level service providers, and peer-level service providers. In order to participate in the five-day training, and become a certified LTB service provider, training candidates must possess either: a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, or peer certification in social work or addiction counseling or recovery coaching, or a related field in the human service industry.
Learning Objectives
- Gain knowledge of The Lies that Bind® (LTB) program methodology and philosophy.
- Develop skills to assist individuals in changing the way they think and the way they behave.
- Develop skills to expose unconscious dysfunctional beliefs that were created during individuals’ formative years.
- Develop skills to assist individuals in reprogramming the way they were unconsciously programmed to think.
- Understand the tools employed to teach people how to operate in the new environments their new beliefs will take them.
- Develop skills to perform all of the tasks contained in the program methodology including:
- Conducting The Lies That Bind® Formative Years’ Assessments (FYA)
- Coding and categorizing lies/issues found in client’s FYA
- Facilitating/co-facilitating The Lies That Bind® Group series
- Conducting The Lies That Bind® field trips
- Conducting/co-facilitating individual therapy/coaching sessions with clients utilizing The Lies That Bind® Program curriculum
- Coaching and mentoring clients receiving The Lies That Bind® Program services
- Facilitating/co-facilitating The Lies That Bind® alumni group
About the Presenter:
Anneshia Freeman MBA, MSW, CADC, CPRM is the creator and Director of a copyrighted, trademarked, award-winning, cognitive restructuring and resocialization program entitled The Lies That Bind – The Legacy of the Locks® – also trademarked as The Lies That Bind®. The program is based on the work of several experts in the fields of neuroscience and psychology. Anneshia integrates concepts from neuroscience, psychology, and computer programming along with 15 years of participant/observation, exploratory, ethnographic research experience into one innovative cause and effect treatment methodology.
The program was initially piloted within the 61st District Court’s Start Treatment of Prostitution (STOP) program for four years and yielded tremendous results. Anneshia was employed at Arbor Circle for seven years where she originally trained nine MSW therapists in her program methodology and later trained 16 Arbor Circle program staff in the advanced LTB methodology. The LTB program was piloted within the Mission Inn program for four years. The Mission Inn Program assists women with children under the age of five in stopping the generational cycles of drug addiction and poverty in their families. Anneshia Freeman provided cognitive restructuring and resocialization program services for Drug Court and Sobriety Court clients from December 2003 – February of 2015. The Lies That Bind® Program continued to be utilized by 61st District Court programs, facilitated by a counselor trained and certified to use the model, until he retired in 2020. Anneshia developed an adolescent version of The Lies That Bind® Program which services severely traumatized, high-risk, inner-city youth. In 2012, Anneshia Freeman was awarded the Phyllis Scott Activist Giant Award for the impact her adult and youth programs on the Greater Grand Rapids Area. In 2013, Anneshia received a Drug Court Hero Award from the “Michigan Association of Drug Court Professionals” for the impact of her women’s trauma group that utilized the LTB Program.
Course Fees
The $800.00 per person fee includes the following material:
- 1-410 page “The Lies That Bind® 12-Week Intensive Adult Program” manual.
- Includes a zip folder with the PDFs of the worksheets used in the 12-week series.
- 1 copy of Dr. R. Joseph’s book “The Right Brain and the Unconscious: Discovering the Stranger Within.”
- 2 sets of Cognitive Restructuring Belief System Cards (100 victim-based beliefs and 100 villain-based beliefs).
- 1 three-ring binder with the handouts for each of the five days in the training.
- 3-year certification certificate – can be renewed in three-year increments.
